This rap team is on their way to the top. They have been recording for years at MC Sounds recording studio and now they are recording out of Phase recording studio. Rocking the mic at live shows is what they do best.Dominic Tatum, better known as “Half Dog” and Tariq “Mista Dink” Williams grew up in the Glassmanor area of Oxon Hill Maryland, during the chaotic aftermath of the arrival of crack to black suburbia. Childhood friends since the fourth grade, Half and Dink both watched in admiration as each of their older brothers became rising stars in the DC area dope game.
Though Dink was raised in a two parent home while Half experienced a less stable up bringing- the two were like brothers, having two major commonalities… tragedy and trouble. In 1996, Dink’s older brother was murdered, leaving him devastated and seemingly out of control. Half would encounter similar sadness in dealing with the shooting of his 16 year old sister. By 15 both boys became involved in selling drugs, and by 17, Half had been arrested by the FBI for murder. He was subsequently absolved of the charges, but Dink would spend the better part of 10 years in and out of incarceration before gaining focus. As the childhood friends walked similar paths, their ability to rely on one another for brotherhood and support- be it in the vexing struggle of the streets, or the positive pursuit of success; has made them a dynamic team. Through their tragedies and troublesome encounters, the two maintained a deep love of music. Artists like Spice 1, The Outlaws and Scarface identified in their music the things that Half Dog and Mista Dink were experiencing. Smart enough to know that the streets would only end in more tragedy, and talented enough to make the move, the pair decided to move away from the streets, and into the booth. After countless hours of studio time, and numerous shows- Half Dog and Mr. Dink have created a unique collaborative sound, and refined their image as professional entertainers in the music industry. Half and Dink, along with 30/30 Da Murderland Prince and Xela comprise the talented group of artists called “Villain Style”, rounding out the Gangster Chronicles Music Entertainment roster…. And ready to put DC on the map!
